Louis “Fish” Fisher, a New York City raised and Los Angeles based creative, focuses his work at the intersection of wellbeing, expression and story. This multidisciplinary creator weaves a wide & colorful tapestry, splitting his time between restorative bodywork, experiential culinary arts, ethical community design, gamified collaborative storytelling, intimate photographic portraiture, therapeutic acroyoga and aerial silks, tea ceremony and more!
Fish grew up the son of two renown NY chefs: one in experimental, fine dining restaurants; and the other in hotels and private cheffing for celebrity families. Their home was a fertile ground for his budding creative spirit, with access to an endless font of culinary wisdom. Even in his youth, he had access to mentors, ingredients and techniques that most culinary grads would dream of. This planted a seed of deep appreciation and passion to explore food beyond personal joy, but to share it with others.
Years later, Fish went on to co-create a food truck start-up in LA, an experiential catering company, and currently an edible experience design lab – all centered around plant-based food. He is currently developing a curriculum for intentional eating called The Mindful Mouthful, centered around food as medicine, meditation, expression and community. With university backgrounds in education and photojournalism, Fish understands the importance of stories. His decade-long career in photojournalism spanned covering wartime reportage, American daily life, international politics & social activism, live music & art, environmental portraits and long-form editorials. At the center of his frame and heart, stands the human experience. “People matter to me. More than anything else, their stories and experiences matter, because it's within those stories that life finds meaning.” While photographing around the world, he took time to connect and collect the stories and flavors of the cultures he visited, deeply informing his culinary canvas.

Since returning to the United States from globetrotting in 2012, Fish began a physical and emotional healing journey. After various injuries and trauma from war zones, his body needed support beyond surgeries and medication. He was introduced first to reiki and reflexology in 2012, after which came massage and bodywork. He realized it was a growing passion to pursue learning and practicing these modalities for his own health as well as the possibility of sharing them. For over 6 years, he cultivated a rich and unique practice of bodywork that also includes Thai massage, craniosacral, Korean hand therapy, sports massage and more. This ever-expanding playground found Fish studying AcroYoga and Aerial Silks as ways to share more meaningful and fulfilling connections and safe, embodied play. As of spring 2020 with the health and wellbeing of many loved ones suffering, it became clear that sharing healing arts was both necessary and a personal priority. Alongside physical and somatic therapies, cognitive and emotional learning has captured Fish’s attention and time. Through the life-changing work of Authentic Relating, Non-Violent Communication, Circling and NeuroLinguistic Programming, he has developed his own style of interpersonal and group communication tactics. Utilizing this toolkit both personally and professionally has greatly improved Fish’s life and relationships. These tools have also been used to empower fellow creatives, loved ones, business teams, families and intentional communities.
The use of these within communities and organizations is a huge necessity and primary lens through which he has been curating these practical applications. This ongoing research into ethical and effective discourse is a major passion of his, and is currently leading to a book and formal professional offering for community organizers. All the while, in the early sunless mornings and late starry nights, Fish has been writing and building magical worlds for his friends to explore for nearly 20 years. This hobby of world building and fantasy writing has been primarily for use in collaborative story games like Dungeons & Dragons (a classic tabletop roleplaying game), where his wild imagination could have an outlet to fully stretch and express. His love of the game has inspired many others to discover their own joy in play, and has even brought it into professional spaces as a tool for improving empathy, communication and collaboration amongst teams. This visionary passion underwrites almost every other creative endeavor that Fish has explored, and will likely continue to inform his heARTwork for decades to come.
