Restorative Bodywork Sessions

Developed from a blend of modalities, paying homage to traditional deep tissue massage, craniosacral, reflexology, thai massage, reiki and more.

What I Offer

I blend the modalities I’ve trained in, mixing elements from reflexology, Thai massage, deep tissue, craniosacral, Korean hand therapy, trigger point, reiki and other various somatic release techniques. I work on a table, as well as a Thai floor pad, and often utilize BioMat and other infrared technology in my sessions. I offer inversions and spinal traction with a yoga hammock, AcroYoga and aerial silk-supported sessions when needed. I work anywhere in the touch range from hands-off energy work to full contact deep tissue and structural alignment, based on the explicit needs and desires of each individual. I don’t offer internal or genital massage, as that is not what I’m trained in. I don’t have a pre-designed sequence or flow for all my clients. I am open to shaping our sessions to most requests within reason. We determine what’s best for you, together.

  • At this time, sessions are in my studio or house calls only.

  • I am open to calls or emails for integration and reflection when needed.

  • Wellness days, group packages and group rates are all available per request.

  • “A bodywork session with Fish gives you 3x more than you asked for. He knows  the source of aches, pains, and anxiety and within a couple quick flips and switches, you'll remember what it feels like to be yourself again. Not only are the results great but just being with him and his kindness already works it's healing magic before he's even put hands on you. ”

  • “Fish helped relieve a lot of pain and pressure that’s built up from multiple car accidents, sprains and stagnancy. I felt lighter and more flexible after our session”

Julia M.V.  Artist; Business owner, educator, social development consultant

  • Fish is a deeply safe space for women. When experiencing his touch I can feel the intuition and years of study in his craft. My experiences have always been really deep. Days after giving birth was definitely my most favorite session. He showed up as an angel to help seal the portal that was just opened.

Teresa Cisneros- Mother, herbalist, mycologist, DJ, Movement Artist

  • Fish is the REAL HANDS OF MAGICK DEAL! He supported my body mind and soul energetically and physically through my pregnancy and postpartum experiencing in the deepest massages I’ve ever received. I am forever grateful.

ALEXANDRA FREYER - Mama & Herbalist

  • Fish is an amazing body worker. He has helped me with back issues and knows exactly how to accommodate my needs. I feel safe with him and he learned how my body works in a short time. I highly recommend working with him.

    Zeus Ochoa -Diagnostics

  • Bodywork with Fish is a truly special experience. My favorite part about receiving from Fish is that it’s not a time for me to simply tune out of my body and let someone else do the work. Fish invites me to participate, to notice, to breathe, and to receive with full presence and consent on all levels. To truly collaborate on my healing! That collaboration in combination with the depth of their skill and expertise has made Fish’s bodywork truly some of the most impactful work I’ve received. I know it can be nerve wracking to entrust someone with such intimate work, but Fish creates deep safety, attunement, and containment as they masterfully work with their clients to alleviate aches , pains, and blockages. They work with the muscles, the breath, the nervous system, and energy fields adeptly with L O V E. I cannot recommend them enough from the bottom of my heart!

    Liv R. - Therapist

  • Fish’s compassionate approach integrates patience, emotional intelligence, spirituality, athleticism, and trauma-informed education. I noticed major postural improvement, increased energy/alertness, and better sleep immediately after our first session. Each session is different and incorporates a multidisciplinary approach that nods to several different areas of training. He prioritizes establishing a trustful relationship that respects boundaries which has created the space for some much-needed healing. I’m truly grateful for his work!

    Dorna Pourang - Clinical Researcher

  • Fish is one of the most intuitive humans I have ever come across. His ability to assess where I'm holding most of the stresses and pains of life in my body comes naturally to him. He also knows exactly what to do to address those issues, knots, blocks throughout the body. My restorative bodywork session with him was healing and brought me back to life in ways I didn't even know that I needed.

FAQs

  • Restorative Integrative Bodywork is a therapeutic approach that combines deep tissue techniques with holistic healing practices to address physical and emotional imbalances. It is tailored to your body’s unique needs, integrating physical touch with mindfulness to promote relaxation, relief from chronic pain, and emotional healing.

Unlike traditional massage, my approach integrates principles of restorative healing, somatic awareness, and emotional release. It goes beyond just physical relaxation, aiming to foster a deeper connection to your body and mind. I focus on the integration of bodywork with emotional processing, creating a holistic experience.

  • The benefits of bodywork can be both physical and mental, and they may vary depending on the specific therapy chosen. Some potential benefits include:

    1. Pain relief: Many people turn to bodywork therapies to help alleviate pain resulting from injuries, stress, or chronic conditions. Techniques like deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy can help release tension and reduce pain in the muscles and other soft tissues.

    2. Improved flexibility and mobility: Bodywork can help improve joint flexibility, muscle elasticity, and overall range of motion. Techniques such as stretching, joint mobilization, and soft tissue manipulation can help increase flexibility and mobility, potentially reducing the risk of injury and improving overall performance.

    3. Stress reduction: Bodywork therapies often promote relaxation and stress relief. Massage, for example, can help reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) levels while increasing the production of feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine. This can help improve mood and overall mental well-being.

    4. Improved circulation: Techniques that involve applying pressure and manipulating the soft tissues can help increase blood flow and improve circulation. Better circulation can promote more efficient oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscles and other tissues, leading to faster recovery and improved overall health.

    5. Enhanced immune system function: Regular bodywork can help boost the immune system by reducing stress, improving circulation, and stimulating the lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage techniques can help remove waste products and toxins from the body, promoting better overall health and resilience.

    6. Improved posture and body awareness: Bodywork can help correct imbalances and improve posture by releasing tight muscles, retraining the body to maintain proper alignment, and increasing awareness of body mechanics. This can lead to better overall function and reduced strain on muscles and joints.

    7. Injury prevention and recovery: Regular bodywork can help identify and address potential sources of pain or injury before they become serious problems. By working on tight or imbalanced muscles, bodywork can help prevent injuries and also speed up the recovery process after an injury.

    8. Emotional well-being: Some bodywork therapies, such as craniosacral therapy and somatic experiencing, focus on the connection between the body and emotions. These approaches can help release emotional tension stored in the body and promote emotional healing.

  • Yes, bodywork can assist in releasing emotional tension stored in the body. By combining physical touch with emotional awareness, the session allows for the safe release of stress and trauma, helping to restore emotional balance alongside physical healing.

  • No, sadly not at this time. That may change in the near future.

  • Hydrate thoroughly the day prior, to help reduce inflammation in the body, as well as help nourish the skin, muscles and tissues. Get a good and full night rest to be present and wakeful for the session. Please refrain from applying perfumes, colognes or strong oils prior to the session. Please arrive in clothing you are okay to stretch and move in, that you don’t mind the possibility of oils getting on; or arrive in clothing you are okay to disrobe comfortably. Please avoid wearing large or obstructive jewelry to the session.

If you have any specific concerns (e.g., injuries, chronic pain), feel free to share them with me beforehand so I can customize the session to your needs. It's also helpful to clear your mind of distractions and come with an open intention for healing.

  • While bodywork can sometimes involve pressure on tense muscles or sensitive areas, the goal is never to cause pain. I will work within your comfort level and adjust techniques accordingly. You’ll be encouraged to communicate openly about your comfort during the session.

  • It’s genuinely different for each person and each session. After sessions with me, some commonly shared experiences have ranged from relaxation to deep relief, spaciousness and weightlessness, expanded mobility and renewed circulation, feeling reconnected and realigned with the physical body, painlessness and energy. Occasionally after particularly deep or emotional sessions, individuals may feel tired, tender, sensitive, euphoric and/or mental emotional lightness/heaviness. These symptoms are common, natural and impermanent. The positive aspects of relief and painlessness are more impactful and longer lasting after consistent, reoccurring sessions.

  • Drink lots of water, with added lemon or electrolytes. Get a good and full night rest afterwards. Avoid immediately engaging in high-intensity workouts or high-impact activities (within ~10 hours of the session) to let the body recalibrate. Enjoy anti-inflammatory foods and supplements, such as turmeric, ginger, black pepper and lemon. Additionally, varying mental or emotional fluctuations may appear after sessions and this is normal and expected. I recommend tracking and documenting any changes over the following few days for your own self-regulating and self awareness. Journaling, voice recording, art therapy and/or movement all have proven benefits for helping track this process.

  • The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. For those dealing with chronic pain or emotional healing, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be beneficial. For general maintenance and relaxation, monthly sessions can help sustain your body’s balance.

  • If you have certain medical conditions (e.g., severe osteoporosis, acute injuries, or recent surgeries), it’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before receiving bodywork. I will ask you about your health history and adjust the session based on any conditions you may have.
